Rizzotti started "Rapunzel Rapunzel" in 1990 in San Francisco with hair accessories and then added hats and bags to the collection before introducing her famous shoes. In 1997, she moved the company to Jackson Hole where she opened a warehouse that hand-dyes and trims all of her products. From there, Rapunzel accessories are distributed across the nation to high-end boutiques.

Rizzotti grew up in California and went to school at San Diego State where she received a degree in marketing. She worked for Esprit in San Francisco before venturing out on her own.
